As an off-shoot of renowned Smartphone manufacturing brand Oppo, OnePlus got a huge reputation worldwide for producing flagship killer phones. Day by day, OnePlus has stepped into the realm of flagship phones. On October 14, 2020, the OnePlus has launched its latest flagship innovation OnePlus 8T. Can this Smartphone fulfill the users' expectations? Read this OnePlus 8T review to know its specs, features, and price in Bangladesh.

OnePlus 8T review of Key Features

Design

OnePlus 8T comes with an easy-to-grip flat display. Its glass built backside with metal frame offers a premium experience. Like the 8 Pro version, 8T's back panel sports a fingerprint-resistant matte finish, which is an upgrade from the OnePlus 8's fingerprint-hungry glossy finished back. However, 8T lacks the aesthetics of the 3D curved display we got in the OnePlus 8 and the Pro version. The design of 8T looks quite similar to the budget counterpart Nord model.

The OnePlus 8T bears a fast-responsive in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock feature. However, the 8T lacks the dust and water-resistant rating feature making the OnePlus fans disappointed! However, OnePlus boasts about applying some kind of sealing techniques that would save this gadget from sudden impacts of water splashes.

On the top-right hand side of 8T's rear panel, a quad-camera setup is housed on a rectangular platform. This is a noticeable change compared with the middle positioned triple rear camera set up of the ancestor OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro versions. The 8T includes a stereo speaker, but no headphone jack. It has no slot for a microSD card. The fresh flagship Oneplus 8T is found in two amazing colour options: Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver.

Display

OnePlus have won the crown of magnificent displays, and its latest 8T continues this legacy offering a Fluid AMOLED panel with HDR10+ display. Its 6.55-inch sized screen size is both manageable to handle and comfortable to watch the contents.  The 8T's full HD resolution (2400 x 1080pixels, 20:9 ratios, and 402 PPI densities) assures flagship-level visual experience through vivid colour pallet, contrast, and details.

What is more? By virtue of a 120Hz refresh rate, the OnePlus 8T features a butter-smooth navigation experience. Once you get used to a phone with such a high refresh rate, the 60Hz displays can no more satisfy you! Its front-screen and back panels are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. With 678 nits brightness, 8T performs great in direct sunlight which many pricier competitors have failed to offer!

Performance

The OnePlus 8T is equipped with Kryo 585 octa-core processor with the utmost 2.84 GHz of clock speed. Though fans were expecting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus processor in the OnePlus 8T model, it stagnates at the same old SD 865 SoC! It is a pity that OnePlus has applied the same chipset provided in the ancestor OnePlus 8 model. Maybe it happened due to the cost-cutting reasons. The 8T bears Adreno 650 GPU.

You get the OnPlus 8T in two variants: 8/128GB and 12/256GB. Like the 8 versions, 8T carries the LPDDR 4X RAM. However, the pro version's LPDDR5 RAM was expected in the latest 8T. Nevertheless, with 3.1 data storage technology, the OnePlus 8T out-wins its '8 Pro' version.

Running on the up-to-date OxygenOS 11, the 8T is blessed with the latest Android 11 OS. 8T's OS is rich in the top-notch security features and privacy options. Though the latest OxygenOS11 operating system is highly optimized, it feels lightweight, clean, and super fast. One of the most exclusive features of the OxygenOS 11 is the 'always-on' display showing diverse notifications as well as versatile clock styles.

The 8T's SD 865 CPU and powerful RAM would facilitate the smooth operations of heavy-duty apps and software. Furthermore, the intelligent vapor chamber cooling mechanism has been applied in this gadget in order to prevent the heat generation process. The gamers would love playing the latest multiplayer games such as COD, PUBG, Freefire, Asphalt 9, etc on 8T. However, playing demanding games for a long time can make this device a bit warm.

Cameras

The OnePlus 8T's quad rear camera series includes a 48MP f/1.7 prime shooter with a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor. 8T also has a 5MP f/2.4 macro and a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. On the front screen, a 16MP selfie camera is provided which we have also seen in the ancestor 8 version. However, the telephoto lens is omitted in the 8T version.

Its 48MP prime rear sensor takes bright and vibrant 12MP photos applying the pixel binning mechanism. Though its images feature enough detailing and greater dynamic range, it can't capture full 48MP photos. The shots come up with a bit of imposed color tints and smoothing effects. In the portrait-mode photos, the skin tones of the subjects suffer from an over-whitening effect that everyone may not like. However, the portraits still look decent for uploading on social media.

In the low light situations, the night mode can efficiently illuminate and highlight the dark areas besides adding details. This 48MP camera is built with Sony's IMX586 sensor which we have also seen in the ancestor 7T Pro. Certainly, an upgraded sensor could make the 8T a more lucrative deal!

Its 16MP ultra wide-angle camera features a 123-degree field of view. This sensor is efficient in capturing large groups, extensive structures, and panoramic landscapes. In ample light, this sensor takes average quality images with good detailing. The ultra-wide sensor also works with the night mode feature. However, the image processing performance is not so overwhelming.

8T's 5MP macro sensor takes good photos but the detailings are less than the '8pro' version's micro-lens photos.  However, using its 2x digital zooming capacity you can see the details. Moreover, you can shoot pleasing monochrome photos with the 8T's 2MP monochrome camera. However, this sensor feels like a sort of publicity stunt. The provision of a telephoto lens could do better.

On the front side, the OnePlus 8T holds a 16MP f/2.4 selfie camera like its ancestor 8 and the 8 pro versions. 8T takes pretty selfies revealing sharp edges. Like the rear main camera's portrait photos, the front shooter's selfie-portraits bear some added hues, and softening effect.

Starting from 1080p@30fps, the rear main camera's utmost video recording capacity reaches 4K@60fps. And its Super Slow Motion mode can capture 720p footage at 480fps/1080p/240fps. The auto-HDR, gyro-EIS, and Nightscape mode can alleviate the quality of video clips. Though OnePlus claims that 8T's video recording options include the portrait bokeh mode, its effectiveness is questionable. Besides these, the selfie camera can record 1080p videos at 30fps.

Battery and Charger

The OnePlus 8T is powered up with a 4,500 mAh battery. At the highest 120Hz refresh rate, 8T provides about 5.5 to 6 hours of screen-on-tome (SOT). Certainly, it is good news for the people who tend to use phones for long hours of the day. Lowering the screen's refresh rate, you can enjoy longer SOT. The OnePlus 8T takes less than 40 minutes to get fully recharged. Credit goes to its dual battery pack and 65W fast charger. However, we have already seen these features in many budget phones like Realme 7 pro. However, the lack of wireless charging facility questions the fat price-tag of the OnePlus 8T once again.

OnePlus 8T Price in Bangladesh

OnePlus 8T is available at $749 which equivalents to Tk 63,481 ($1=84.75). The price may vary depending upon circumstances.

Verdict

The new OnePlus flagship Smartphone 8T presents a combination of flagship-level features such as fluid AMOLED panel, full HD resolution, 120Hz display, powerful RAM, adequate storage, etc. However, in the camera section, the 8T seems to lose its flagship title. And, we have found no significant fresh technology in this phone. Most of the 8T features are available in the ancestor OnePlus phones as well as the contemporary competitor phones. Overall, considering the features, the Oneplus 8T phone's price-tag seems a bit exorbitant.

BENEATH THE SURFACE
The Dazzling Fake Flowers: Is there any alternative to artificial flowers while decorating homes, showrooms, offices and business establishments? Fresh flowers are undoubtedly beautiful, but they dry out quickly. Hence, the demand for plastic flowers is rising day by day. Traders said these lifelike silk flowers usually come from China and Thailand. The photo was taken from the 29th International Trade Fair of the Chattogram Chamber on Friday.
