Port city to come under GIS Mapping

A J M Nasir Uddin, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, said a project has been undertaken to bring Chattogram city under Geographic Information System (GIS),

The mayor made this comment in a general meeting of Chattogram City Corporation today.

"The Tk12 crore worth Project is to be implemented within 2.5 years," the mayor added.

Stating that an agreement regarding this would be reached soon, Mayor Nasir Uddin said that it would lead to Chattogram becoming a smart city.

"The public would become knowledgable about many of the resources present in the city," He said, adding that the map would contribute significantly to the interests of the Chattogram City Corporation.

Geographic Information Systems capture, store, manipulate, analyse, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. The application allows users to create interactive queries, analyse spatial information, edit data in maps, and present the results of all these operations.
