Hasan Mia of Bangladesh Army clinched the men’s 100-metre title for the second time at the meet organised by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

Summer Athletics: Shirin fastest woman, Hasan fastest man

Shirin Aktar of Bangladesh Navy reclaimed her 100-metre women’s sprint crown for a record eighth time on Friday with a timing of 12 seconds in the Trust Bank 15th National Summer Athletics Competition 2019.

Hasan Mia of Bangladesh Army clinched the men’s 100-metre title for the second time at the meet organised by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

In the high jump, Umme Hafsa of Bangladesh Jail created a new national record on the first day jumping 1.68 metres, beating the previous record of 1.66 metres. 

Earlier, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasiruddin inaugurated the two-day meet as the chief guest in the afternoon. 

Managing Director and CEO of the meet’s sponsor Trust Bank Limited was also present as the special guest at the inaugural function chaired by BAF President  ASM Ali Kabir.

Results of 13 of the day’s events were announced until the evening.
 
Gold medalist of the day’s 13 events: marathon - Firoz Khan (Army), men’s hammer throw - Mahfuz Hasan (Navy), men’s 1,500m - Al Amin (Army), women’s 1,500m - Sumi Aktar (Army), women’s shot put - Sraboni Mollik (Ansar & VDP), men’s triple jump - Sohel Rana (Army), women’s high jump - Umme Hafsa Rumki (Jail), women’s 100m hurdles - Tamanna Aktar (Navy), women’s 100m sprint - Shirin Aktar (Navy), men’s 100m sprint - Hasan Mia (Army), men’s 110m hurdles - Mirza Hasan (Army), men’s 400m - Zahir Raihan (Nary) and women’s 400m – Sumi Akter (Army).

A record 498 athletes, including 103 women from 55 teams, are taking part in 36 events of the meet.
