I am still young but I've matured a lot, says Sabbir on 29th birthday

Sabbir Rahman, the swashbuckling right-handed batsman, couldn't cement his place in the Bangladesh team despite making his debut six years ago.

On top of that, he has been involved in many controversies, making him a divisive character.

But the 29-year old reckons that he is more mature than before now and feels that he has calmed down as a person.

Sabbir will play for Beximco Dhaka in the forthcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

He spoke to the media about the team and himself after the training session on Sunday.

"I am still young. But I've matured a lot. I have calmed down as a person and realised that I need to act in a positive way. I will try my best to play well," Sabbir commented.

Sabbir has come to understand that there is no alternative to hard work. "Hard work is a must. But I cannot guarantee success even if I bat all day. I prepared myself very well in Rajshahi for 20-25 days."

"I did a lot of batting in the centre wicket. I have practiced hard ahead of the tournament. Let's see what happens," added Sabbir.

Sabbir has the desire to bat up the order but is ready to bat anywhere his team wants.

"I need to bat higher in order to take my game to the next level. In domestic cricket, I usually get out on 30-40 or 60-70. If I can score centuries regularly, it will be great for me going ahead," the right-hander concluded.
