Avik Anwar keeps on creating history on the race track for Bangladesh. He has brought yet another success in racing, and this time on a Formula One track.
Avik secured third place in UAE Procar Championship, Round 4, Race 1.
The race took place on Yas Marina Formula1 circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Friday. Avik is the first Bangladeshi to race there and be on the podium.
He, however, mentioned difficulties of racing on a new track before the race but it couldn't stop him from bringing another success for the country.
"A lot of difficulties, new track and a very difficult track with a lot of lateral G force. I just gave it my 110%. My whole body is aching," Avik told The Business Standard.
"This is my first time racing at Yas Marina F1 track, all the other racers are professional here. They have been racing for 5-6 years and very experienced. It was a close finish with 4th place as we finished side by side," Avik added.
Avik dedicated the success to the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives in 1952. He also painted "Amar vaiyer rokte rangano...Ami ki vulite pari" on his racing car as a symbol of gratitude.
Avik mentioned he wanted to win something for the language martyrs and this was the least he could do to show love and respect from his place.
"And result came, I believed in Allah and I couldn't give up without a prize for the country and the language martyrs,"
"Yes, I dedicated the race to our language martyrs as I love Bangladesh and speaking Bengali. It's the least I could do," Avik concluded.
"I dedicate this award to all the language martyrs of our language movement. Joy Bangla," Avik posted on his social media sites.
Avik is the first and only Bangladeshi to win an international motorsport event, twice. He won the UAE Pro Championship GT86 Class last month which he dedicated to Tamim Iqbal.
Avik has a busy 2021 ahead of him. He will be racing in Malaysia and India in the coming months. He will also participate in a 24-hour race in Thailand in December.
