The first teaser of Bollywood war epic "Pippa" has been released online alongside the announcement that it will hit theatres on 2 December.

The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, and directed by Raja Krishna Menon, with score from Oscar winner A.R. Rahman.

The one-minute teaser video features Ishaan as Captain (later Brigadier) Balram Singh Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron, who went on to fight for Bangladesh.

'Pippa' is based on a book titled 'The Burning Chaffees,' written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta  and tells the story of three siblings who fought at the front lines during the action-packed 48-hour battle of Garibpur in 1971.

The first teaser of the warm drama hits the right notes with dialogues like 'Joy Bangla'—the popular war cry of the liberation war.

According to the film's official synopsis, Pippa's title refers to the magnificent Russian amphibious war tank PT-76 that was used in the war. It was lovingly nicknamed "Pippa",

As per an exclusive report by Variety one of the producers Roy Kapur said "The Bangladesh Liberation War is often heralded as the only 'just war' in history because it was fought to save lives and to free a nation. We are honoured to bring audiences this inspiring story of the birth of Bangladesh, through the incredible journey of an Indian family on the frontlines."

Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Ishaan wrote, "PIPPA in cinemas December 2nd, 2022. On the momentous occasion of our country's Independence Day - presenting a glimpse from a film we've collectively put our heart, gut and soul into. May our soil, our people and our culture be blessed always. It's been an honour to represent the valour and bravery of our defence forces. More to come."
