Rapid action battalion (RAB) has found an arms factory inside the Rohingya camp during an operation in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. Three people were arrested and 10 weapons, as well as weapon-making equipment, were recovered at that time.
Cox's Bazar RAB-15 Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Khairul Islam confirmed that the operation was carried out on Monday in the hills of X-4 camp of Kutupalong Rohingya camp.
He said, "We were getting allegations that a gang was making weapons by setting up a factory inside the Rohingya camp for a long time. It is reported that arms were being supplied to Rohingya terrorists from this factory. After the information, we identified the factory through intelligence surveillance."
He also said, "The operation was carried out on Monday morning after confirmation. At that time they fired at RAB. The RAB fired back and took control of the factory. Five pistols, five guns and a large quantity of weapons-making equipment were recovered from there."
He added that the RAB is working to stop the activities of terrorists in the camps. He said the detainees would be handed over to the Ukhiya police station for further legal action.
The arrested are Baitullah (19) son of late Azizur Rahman of C-1G block of Kutupalong camp; his brother Habib Ullah (32); and Mohammad Hasan (24) son of Zahid Hossain of the same camp.
