Shades of life and memories on canvas at Shilpangan
Beginning on September 4, the exhibition will be open for all till September 15.
The walls of Shilpangan gallery are filled with enthralling artworks that will captivate the minds of admirers and enthusiasts .
The artists have expressed their inner thoughts, emotions and reflected on the past through their works on display. Most of their canvases speak of nostalgia and depict the serenity of nature. Interestingly, horse dominates the canvases of many of the displayed artworks.
Participating artists at the exhibition are Biren Shome, Ranjit Das, Krishna Chattopadhyay, Shipu Moniruzzaman and Al Akhir Sarker.
Around 100 artworks are being displayed at the art show. This ongoing exhibition is a treat to the eyes of the art lovers who missed visiting the art galleries in recent times due to the pandemic.

Amfan by Al Akhir Sarker
"Amfan" is a jaw-dropping drawing done with paint brush. The black colour drawing depicts a rural narrow road on a rainy day. Villagers are going home with umbrellas in their hands. You can vividly visualise the scene through this artwork.
"I created the artwork from my memory using the paint brush," Akhir told The Business Standard.
"Most of my paintings are from reflections of my memories and my imagination. For example, I drew the Armenian Church from a photograph which we took during an art camp."
Art Camp on boat by Shipu Moniruzzaman
Artist Shipu Moniruzzaman has depicted one of his favourite memories on the canvas. The displayed artwork portrays a morning tête-à-tête session among friends on boat over drinking steaming cups of tea. The intimate and intense discussions of three friends are subtlety expressed by the artist.
Shipu Moniruzzaman said he painted this as he still treasures the memory of the art camp that took place back in 2016 at Hiron Point.
Peacock from animal series by Ranjit Das
This exquisite water colour drawing depicts a dancing peacock. The artwork belongs to the animal series by the artist. As part of the series, artist Ranjit Das also drew cows, pigeons, crows, goats, horses, and monkeys etc.
"I have been working on water colour based figure artworks lately, and the displayed works are from that collection of mine," Ranjit said.
"I tried to portray beautiful gestures of peacock in the displayed art piece." "My focus was to capture it beautiful colour and its dance rhythm, on my canvas."
