The European External Action Service (EEAS) has offered young graduates, interested in the field of international relations, a paid traineeship for up to six months at EU delegation to Bangladesh.

The traineeship, for those who want to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU's interests and values in Bangladesh, will commence in September 2021.

Due to global coronavirus pandemic, applicants currently residing in Bangladesh will only be considered if they are either Bangladeshi nationals or EU Citizens only already residing in Dhaka with a legal permanent residency in Bangladesh at the time of application (valid for minimum further 12 months).

The traineeship will provide a monthly grant to each selected trainee to cover living expenses. However, all costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Curious eligibles will work under the the Political, Economic, Trade, Press and Information (PETPI) Section of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh.

The PETPI Section is a small section consisting of the Head of Section, a Political officer and three local agents (trade officer, press officer, senior secretary). The trainee would have the opportunity of covering a wide range of areas, including political developments, human rights, the Rohingya refugee crisis, trade issues, EU visibility and contacts with civil society.

The main tasks of the traineeship includes: helping the Political, Trade and Press Section to monitor, research and analyse the domestic political situation, in particular human rights and fundamental freedoms, the Rohingya refugee crisis and good governance. Contributing to maintain contact with civil society and provide support in identifying and assisting human rights defenders, as well as, following meetings and workshops with local partners on connectivity, regional integration and countering violent extremism.

Moreover, they would need to contribute to the Section's work on EU visibility and cultural activities, and drafting relevant briefings, press reviews, minutes and policy documents as required.

Candidates must send a detailed standard Europass curriculum vitae (CV), a cover letter describing why you want to participate in a EU traineeship and an application form to the e-mail address Delegation-Bangladesh-Applications@eeas.europa.eu(link sends e-mail).
