The 'H' shaped Kaptai Lake is the largest man-made water body in Bangladesh. This Lake was created by damming the Karnaphuli River at Kaptai upazila in Rangamati. Construction of this dam began in 1956 and it was commissioned in 1962. Although created primarily for hydroelectric power generation, it contributes to navigation, tourism, and production of freshwater fish.
Kaptai Lake is a great tourist attraction in Bangladesh. Some of the most scenic resorts and cottages in Bangladesh are found around this lake. These resorts have breathtaking views. The road stretching through Kaptai and Rangamati have an astonishing view: a perfect blend of lush greenery on the hills and blue water.
Assam Bosti Bridge, a part of this route, is a popular hangout place for local youths and bikers. It's a must stop for every traveller.
My work with the government brought me here. Besides, I am a biker myself, which gives me ample opportunity to be in beautiful places.
Having enjoyed the scenery from a regular viewpoint, I expanded my hobby and started aerial photography to look at the same places from the bird's eye view.
Among all the places, the view of Kaptai Lake will continue having a special place in my heart.
