Intensity of winter slowly decreasing

The severity of the winter is slowly decreasing as temperatures have started to rise slowly in some parts of the country.
The lowest temperature in the country, 6.6 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Sreemangal on Tuesday, up from 5.5 degrees on Monday.
The temperature in Chuadanga was 6.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, 0.6 degrees higher than that on Monday, as per the data available on the website of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The highest temperature recorded in the country on Tuesday was 26.7 degrees Celsius in Teknaf, up from 25 degrees Celsius on Monday.
The temperature rose in Dhaka as well, accompanied by a minor cold wave. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was 22.4 degrees, while the minimum was 11.7 degrees Celsius, versus was 22.1 degrees and 11.7 degrees Celsius respectively on Monday.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast that temperatures across the country may rise slightly on Wednesday. The cold waves may ease in some areas as well, but meteorologists said the cold spell may continue throughout the week.
Senior meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque told The Business Standard, "The severe cold wave has abated somewhat, and the temperature has been rising since Tuesday. Night and day temperatures across the country may rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius though there are still mild to moderate cold waves in some areas."
Mild to moderate cold waves are passing over Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh, Sandwip, Sitakunda, Rangamati, Cumilla, Hatia, Sreemangal, Satkhira, Jashore and Kushtia regions, as well as Rajshahi, Rangpur and Barisal divisions.
A cold wave is considered to be mild when the temperature is 8-10 degrees Celsius; moderate when it is 6-8 degrees, and severe when the temperature ranges from 4-6 degrees Celsius.
Mild to moderate cold waves prevailed in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Kushtia and Jashore between 18-23 December and 26-31 December.
On 8 January 2018, the temperature of Tentulia in Panchagarh dropped to 2.6 degrees Celsius and broke all records in the country.
