Mahbubul Alam elected CCCI president for 5th consecutive time

Mahbubul Alam has been elected president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) for the fifth consecutive time. 

Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, managing director of Saif Powertec, was elected as the senior vice-president and Syed Mohammad Tanvir, managing director of Pacific Jeans, was elected as the vice-president.

The 24 newly elected directors of  CCCI have elected a president, a senior vice president and a vice president at the maiden meeting held at the Agrabad World Trade Center on Tuesday.

All 24 candidates were elected uncontested for the post of 24 directors though the Chittagong Chamber elections are scheduled to be held on 10 June. 

All but 24 candidates withdrew their candidacies on 9 May, the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers. So, they have been unanimously declared the winners.

Mahbubul Alam, Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, Syed Mohammad Tanvir, Ahid Siraj Chowdhury Swapan, Anjan Shekhar Das, Benazir Chowdhury Nishan, Hasnat Mohammad Abu Obaida, Iftekhar Hossain, Md  Shahriar Jahan, Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, SM Tasin Junaid, Salman Habib, Shajada Fauzul Alif Khan, Sajir Ahmed, AKM Akhter Hossain, Zahirul Islam Chowdhury, Md Rakibur Rahman, Shakib Ahmed Salam, Tanvir Mostafa Chowdhury, Md Iftekhar Faisal, Md Adnanul Islam, Md Nasirul Alam, Md Sirajul Islam and Md Omar Farooq  were elected as the directors of Chattogram Chamber.

According to Chittagong Chamber sources, the chamber is run by 24 directors from four categories.  Of these, 12 members from General Group, six members from the Associates Group, three members from the Town Association Group and three members from Trade Group run the Board of Directors for two years.
