Stocks open higher amid surging turnover

DSEX rose by 32.71 points or 0.65% to 5,057 and CASPI gained 75 points to 14,499 till 11:30 am

Equity indices of the stock exchanges have witnessed an upward shift during the first one-and-half-hour trading in the first session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose by 32.71 points or 0.65% to 5,057 till 11:30 am.

Moreover, DSE Shariah-based DSES index gained 10.96 points to 1,161 and blue-chip index DS30 upturned 13.73 points to 1,762.

Turnover, a major indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor, rose by 19% to Tk327.94 crore in the corresponding period.

Out of the 340 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 142 gainers against 98 losers, while prices of 100 scrips remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 75 points to 14,499.

Of the total 203 issues traded till then, 88 gained, 73 declined, and 42 issues remained unchanged with Tk6.4 crore in turnover.
