Key places of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar are going to have faster internet service and video surveillance system soon.

The Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (Beza) and Aamra Networks Limited on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this connection, reads a press release.

Beza General Manager Md Shoaib and Aamra Networks CEO Khaled Ahmed Noor inked the MoU.

Beza Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury presided over the signing ceremony.

Khaled said, "Bangladesh has been able to build an investment-friendly environment through economic zones and has emerged as a role model of development to the world."

The introduction of advanced information technology service and modern surveillance system in Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar is likely to attract more foreign and domestic investments, he said.

Paban Chowdhury said, "It is difficult to attract investors without providing the services of modern technologies."

Beza is moving ahead in a planned manner to make Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar a smart city, he said.

"So advanced information technology and surveillance system have been included in the Private Investment and Digital Entrepreneurship (PRIDE) project."

An enabling-environment has also been created for entrepreneurs to build IT parks in Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar, Paban said. "The World Bank is working to build a technology centre here, and Japan has also shown interest to invest."
