Standard Chartered-Channel i jointly launch “Agrow Award 2020”

Standard Chartered Bank and Channel i have jointly announced the launch of Standard Chartered - Channel i Agrow Award 2020, to recognise the outstanding contributions to the agriculture sector.

The Agrow Award will recognize the best performing individuals and institutions in various catagories for their significant contributions to the agriculture sector of the country, according to a press release.

Naser Ezaz Bijoy, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank, said from women empowerment, rural development to food security and export diversification, the contributions of the agriculture sector and its protagonists will continue to be vital for our nation.

"I am grateful to Channel i for continuing to partner with us in Agrow Award and help us take this new initiative to new heights," he said.

The CEO also mentioned that "We are privileged to have Mr Sheikh Siraj as the chairman of jury board. Inspired by his contributions, we have introduced a new award category on Agriculture Journalism, this year."

Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel i, said the Coronovirus situation serves as reminder about how vital the agriculture sector is to the world.

"Recognizing the contributions of our agricultural heroes is more important than ever. We are proud to be a part of this initiative," he added.

Shykh Seraj, director and head of news of Channel i said, "I believe the Standard Chartered-Channel i Agro Award will help provide further impetus to the sustained success of our agriculture sector."

The Standard Chartered Agrow Awards recognizes the leaders and innovators that are taking our agriculture industry forward, the press release said.

This year will mark the fifth edition of Agrow Award. Till date, there have been 34 award winners, it added.
