Bangladesh Navy has been operating three ships in Saint Martin's island to raise awareness among local people, fishermen and their families on the coronavirus outbreak.
Navy personnel were distributing food and mask and disinfectant soap among local people to ensure their safety, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations.
The Navy officials also sprayed disinfectant on the lone jetty of the island, its adjacent area and local markets. They also conducted awareness campaigns to maintain social distancing and prevent the virus transmission.
To help the civil administration in implementing the government's directives to fight coronavirus, navy vessels and contingents remained active in sea and coastal areas. Their activities will continue until the overall situation in the country improves.
