Medical technologists stage protest
Medical technologists held a sit-in programme in front of the office of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) demanding publication of the final results of the Medical Technologist-2020 recruitment test.
The sit-in programme, under the banner of the Medical Technologist-2020 Recruitment Implementation Committee, started in front of the new building of DGHS in Mohakhali from 9 am to 4 pm on Tuesday.
Regarding the protest, Enamul Haque, member secretary of the committee, said, "We want a speedy implementation of the appointment of 1,200 medical technologists who were supposed to be appointed as per the executive order of the prime minister.
He said that it has been seven months since the written and viva had been completed but the appointments are yet to be finalised.
If the Ministry of Health does not assure them (the applicants) of publishing the results as soon as possible, they will organise a tougher movement, Haque added.
Earlier on 29 June last year, the government took the initiative to recruit medical technologists on an emergency basis. From the initial pool of applicants, some 23,522 applicants successfully made it to the next phase and later on 22 February, the applicants' viva voce was held.
