The five lakh dose of Chinese vaccine that has arrived this morning will be given to the medical and nursing students, along with medical technologists, who work in direct contact with Covid-19 patients.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Spokesperson Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter in a press brief on Wednesday.

Earlier today, a cargo flight of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) brought home five lakh doses of the Chinese Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, gifted by the government of China, which was later handed over by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming.

Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Maleque received the doses in the morning at the state guest house Padma

While requesting everyone to celebrate Eid indoors following health guidelines during this pandemic, Nazmul Islam said that a large number of people heading towards their hometown for the religious holiday might turn into a challenge in the upcoming days.

During the briefing, he urged everyone to be cautious as heavy rainfall across the country can exacerbate the dengue situation in the country while requesting to keep the surroundings clean.

Besides, he informed that the diarrhea outbreak in the southern part of the country has become less severe and the number of patients has decreased.
