Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has cancelled the membership of Oishi Properties Ltd with the charges of involvement in anti-constitutional activities.

The board of directors of the organisation took the decision at the 16th meeting on Thursday, said REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin.

In a press release, REHAB said that it was decided to cancel the membership of Oishi Properties Ltd (REHAB member number 1364/2013) –as the chairman of the company – Md Ayub Ali took part in anti-constitutional activities of the organisation.

From now on, the company will not be able to advertise, use seals, and billboards using the title "REHAB Member."

On condition of anonymity, a vice president of REHAB said that Oishi Properties has committed acts to tarnish the image of the organisation.

"Based on specific allegations, the company was served several show cause notices. As no satisfactory answer was received, their membership was canceled," he added.

However, Md Ayub Ali,the chairman of Oishi Properties, has claimed that the reputation of the organisation has not been tarnished, rather protest against the anti-constitutional work has resulted in the membership cancellation.

He also said that he had responded to the show cause notice.

"We protested against the whimsical decision of the directors. Because of my sickness, I asked for two months after receiving the show cause notice. However, our membership has been cancelled without allowing any time," he told The Business Standard.
