VBD took the initiative to clean the Dhanmondi lake with the help of around 100 of their volunteers

Youth group cleans Dhanmondi Lake

The youth wing of JAAGO Foundation - Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD), Dhaka district recently completed its project called Mission Aqua Cleansing.

The project was undertaken with the view of leaving a clean lake for future generations, said a press release.

VBD took the initiative to clean the Dhanmondi lake with the help of around 100 of their volunteers.

The organisation is trying to ensuring that the water body is free from garbage.  Apart from the cleaning segment, they also launched an awareness campaign amongst the local people. The volunteers briefed them about the dangers of global warming and how this will affect their families.

"I am pleased to see the activities of these young people. They took a brave decision to clean a gigantic lake all by themselves. I salute them wholeheartedly" said Mohsin, a food stall cook.

To boost the morale of the VBD volunteers, Dhanmondi Ward No. 15 & Dhanmondi Thana Awami League leader Rafiqul Islam Babla came and said words of encouragement to them.  He inspired the youth volunteers to work more on these issues to make Clean Dhaka City a reality.

Government of Bangladesh took a major step to fulfil the goal of clean Bangladesh by the year 2021. With this project, VBD Dhaka District believes will help the country achieve this dream. They are inviting the government to take this project on a large scale in the upcoming days.
