US Secretary of State congratulates Bangladesh on Golden Jubilee
He added that both Bangladesh and the US can collaboratively fight climate change as well as promote a secure and prosperous future for the next 50 years
United States (US) Secretary of State Antony Blinken has congratulated Bangladesh on its Golden Jubilee of Independence.
On his Twitter handle, Blinken also wrote, "As partners, we [the US and Bangladesh] can address global challenges together."
He said both Bangladesh and the US can collaboratively fight climate change as well as promote a secure and prosperous future for the next 50 years.
In a press statement issued by the US Department of State earlier on Tuesday, Blinken noted that for the last 50 years the two countries have cooperated on issues ranging from economic development to peacekeeping – fostering strong people-to-people ties.
"Today, our people are partnering to promote human rights, address climate change and combat the Covid-19 pandemic," read the press statement.
Antony Blinken also stated that as the two countries are working together toward a safe and secure region, as well as a healthy and prosperous future, the US recognises Bangladesh's remarkable contributions to global development.
