Transport workers have withdrawn their strike in Jashore on Friday following assurances from the authorities concerned to fulfil their 10-point demand.
The announcement came after transport owners and workers agree to resume transport services following a call by Jatiya Sarak Paribahan Shramik Federation to stop their work abstention, said President of Transport Workers Association in Jashore Mamunur Rashid Bacchu.
"The strike was not enforced by any association. Transport workers voluntarily abstained from work to press home their demands.," he said.
Vehicular movement on 18 routes in Jashore came to a halt from Sunday after transport owners and workers called a strike demanding amendments to the newly enforced Road Transport Act 2018.
General Secretary of district Transport Organisation Workers' Association Harun Or Rashid said, "Transport owners and workers withdrew the strike following assurances from the authorities concerned to fulfil their demand within June 30."
The bus services in Khulna city also resumed on the same day as the bus drivers and transport workers called off the strike.
