Humayra Anan from Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET), Syed Afez Ul Mahmud from University of Asia Pacific and Nazmus Sakib of BUET, respectively secured the first, second and third prizes of this year's Future Architect Award.

Aiming to encourage the next generation of architects, the country's leading steel manufacturing company KSRM and Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) jointly organised the competition for the second time this year.

Devashish Roy of BUET and Umme Tahmina Huq of University of Asia Pacific were especially acclaimed in the competition styled 'KSRM Awards for Future Architects: Best Undergraduate Thesis', organised to encourage the next generation of architects of the country.

The names of the awardees were announced on 20 December. A week-long virtual exhibition organised to mark the occasion also kicked off on the same day.

IAB President Architect Jalal Ahmed and KSRM Director Brigadier General Md Shahidur Rahman (rtd) jointly inaugurated the virtual exhibition. A total of 30 projects by 10 final year students of Architecture Department of IAB-enlisted universities are being displayed in the exhibition. The best three projects of each student are being showcased.

Architect Harun-ur-Rashid; architect Jalal Ahmed; Dr Nasrin Hossain; architect Ashiq Bhaskar Mannan; and architect Rashed Hasan Chowdhury were on the jury panel to select the winning projects. Out of the 30 in the running, the jury board picked the best three and two especially acclaimed projects.

The first winner will receive a Tk1,00,000 cheque while the second and third winners will receive Tk75,000 and Tk50,000 respectively.

Certificates of appreciation and crests of honour will also be given to the top three winners and especially acclaimed achievers.
