Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained five people on suspicion of being militants in Nilphamari.

The elite force raided a house from midnight to 11 pm on Saturday and arrested them, according to a press release sent from the RAB headquarters.

The detainees are Md Ahidul Islam, Md Waheed Ali, Abdullah Al Mamun, Md Zahidul Islam and Md Noor Amin.

During the operation, RAB has recovered bomb-making equipment, chemicals, a pistol, a magazine, five rounds of ammunition and other equipment.

RAB said they took bomb-making training from various online pages. They aimed to liberate the top militants in the jail by attacking while on their way to court. They also planned to use the bombs to create an unstable situation by attacking law enforcement agency members and various important installations.
