OCAB demands release of Rozina

Overseas Correspondents Association Bangladesh (OCAB), an organisation of international media journalists working in Dhaka, has demanded the release of Prothom Alo Senior Journalist Prothom Alo.
In a press release signed by OCAB Member Secretary Nazrul Islam Mithu, the organisation expressed that the incident is highly reprehensible and a threat to independent journalism.
"According to Rozina Islam's family, she was physically and mentally abused while being held in the secretariat," the release read.
OCAB also demanded a probe into the harassment Rozina faced.
Prothom Alo Senior Reporter Rozina Islam was kept confined at the health ministry for more than five hours on Monday before being handed over to police.
Later, she was shown arrested in the case on charges of spiriting away "important" documents.
Investigative journalist Rozina, known for dozens of ground-breaking reports in her career, was charged with breaching the Official Secrets Act 1923.
