Students from the sixth grade to postgraduate level will be able to take part in the essay competition in three categories

Dhaka South organises essay competition celebrating Father of the Nation’s birth centenary

The Dhaka South City Corporation has organised an essay competition based on the life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of his birth centenary.

The students of various educational institutions like schools, colleges, and madrassas and their equivalents under the Dhaka South City Corporation will be able participate in the competition.

Students from the sixth grade to postgraduate level will be able to take part in the essay competition in three categories.

In the A category, sixth to eighth grade students can participate in the competition with essays on "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Childhood."

In the B category, ninth to tenth grade students can participate with essays on "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: The Architect of independent Bangladesh." 

In C category, students of eleventh grade to postgraduate or its equivalent can participate with essays on "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for Establishing Happy, Prosperous, Peaceful Bangladesh."

The composition should be written within 1,500 words in category A, 2,000 words in category B and 3,000 words in category C. Each essay should be handwritten on A4 size paper with one inch space at the top and left.

On the cover page students have to mention the composition category, essay name, student's name, grade, name of educational institution and mobile number.

Students have to submit the essays to the Chief Social Welfare and Slum Development Department's office in the Nagar Bhaban by 5pm on 22 March. The students can also submit the essays to the councillor's office of their respective wards before the deadline. In that case, the concerned councillors will ensure that the essays are submitted to the Chief Social Welfare and Slum Development Department's office by 5pm on 23 March.

A total of 18 people will be awarded including the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and three special prizes in each category.

Tk25,000, Tk15,000 and Tk10,000 will be given as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in A category respectively.

Tk25,000, Tk20,000 and Tk15,000 will be given as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in B category respectively.

Tk30,000, Tk20,000 and Tk15,000 will be given as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in C category respectively.

In addition to that, special prizes of Tk3,000 will be given to three participants in each category.

The results will be declared after the evaluation of the essays by the judges nominated by the city corporation. The results of the competition and the date of distribution of prizes will be announced later.
