Prisoner ‘missing’ from Chattogram central jail

A prisoner named Rubel reportedly went missing from Chattogram Central Jail on Saturday.
He has been in the punishment ward of Karnaphuli Building of the jail.
According to prison sources, one prisoner was found missing during a count on Saturday morning. Following his disappearance, the prison authorities rang "Pagla Ghonta", a metal bell used to produce a siren.
The missing prisoner could not be traced as of filing this report. The authorities have taken initiatives to search for the last time deploying extra riot police.
Our Chattogram correspondent tried to contact the Senior Superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail Md Shafiqul Islam Khan more than once but he did not respond.
