Ramadan Tips: Fasting and diabetes
- Those diabetic patients who take anti-diabetic drugs or insulin injection to control their blood sugar should seek advice from diabetologists before starting fast.
- They should have pre-Ramadan assessment, advice &, medication adjustment during Ramadan and post-Ramadan follow up.
- Diabetic patients are strongly advised for regular self-monitoring of blood sugar levels (known as hypoglycemia) & feel dizzy sweaty and disoriented, they should immediately take sugar drink or place sugar or sweet below their tongues.
