The number of dengue patients in the country's hospitals has crossed 50,000-mark this year, with 767 more patients being hospitalised in the 24 hours till Wednesday.
At least three dengue patients died of the fever during the same period making the total number 216.
Of the total 50,759 infected, 47,814 have recovered so far, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released Wednesday.
Of the new patients, 464 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 303 outside the capital.
On 21 June, the DGHS reported the first death caused by dengue in this season.
This year's dengue casualties became the highest since 2000 when the government formally started keeping records on dengue. In 2000, 5551 dengue cases and 93 deaths were registered.
However, in 2019, the highest 1,01,354 dengue cases and 179 deaths were reported.
