Gas supply disruption hampering electricity production: Nasrul Hamid

With the increasing frequency of load-shedding across the country, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Sunday (3 July) apoligised to the countrymen for the inconvenience through a Facebook post.

"Electricity production is being hampered due to lack of gas supply. The electricity production will return to normal once gas supply is increased," said the minister on the Facebook post.

This power shortage is causing load-shedding in various parts of the country, he added.

The high price of fuel and supply chain disruption caused by the Russia-Ukraine war has affected Bangladesh like all other countries of the world, said the state minister.

The northern districts have been suffering from severe power cuts in the last couple of days. This is causing disruptions in medical services in hospitals and industrial production.
