The fire that started at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) building in Gulshan on Thursday (1 September) has been completely doused.
"The fire originated on the 8th floor of the building at around 7:15am. A short circuit from the electrical control room next to the elevator caused of fire," said DNCC Public Relations Officer Maqbool Hossain.
"The fire broke out on the 8th floor. Four units of fire service reached the spot within 8.15 am after receiving the information and started working. The fire is fully under control. No one was injured in the fire incident. Other than the affected eighth floor, official work is going on," said a DNCC press release.
An investigation committee has been formed to investigate the fire incident. The probe committee has been asked to submit a report within the next three working days identifying the cause of the fire, determining the amount of damage and recommending the next steps to be taken.
