Father, daughter killed in Pabna road crash

A man and his minor daughter were killed when a truck hit a motorbike in Taribaria Bazar area of Pabna Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain, 36, son of Selim Mollah of Char Ashutoshpur village under Dogachhi union in Sadar upazila, and his daughter Sinha, 6.

Alamgir Hossain's wife Nasrin Akhter, 30, was injured critically.

Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, confirming the matter said, "Alamgir Hossain was on his way to Sujanagar from Pabna on a motorbike with his wife and child. He stopped his motorcycle on the roadside and was talking to someone on his mobile phone near the Tarabaria market area. At that time, a sand-laden truck hit the motorcycle from behind."

Alamgir and Sinha died on the spot, the OC added.

Later, locals rescued the seriously injured Nasrin Khatun and sent her to Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex.

From there, she was shifted to Pabna General Hospital for better treatments.

The truck driver and the helper fled the scene after the accident.

Later, the agitated locals vandalised the truck.

Upon receiving the news, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
