Those selected for the fellowship include Professor Mizanur Rahman, Professor Nilufa Akter Banu, Associate Professor Mofizur Rahman, Assistant Professor Rezaul Karim, Associate Professor Mostofa Zamal Happy and Lecturer Anisul Kabir from the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department.

26 Islamic University teachers bag science & technology fellowship

As many as 26 teachers from various departments of Islamic University in Kushtia have bagged next year's Science and Technology Fellowship for Special Research.

IU additional registrar Nawab Ali said that he had received a letter signed by Science and Technology Ministry's deputy secretary Golam Mostafa in this regard.

Those selected for the fellowship include Professor Mizanur Rahman, Professor Nilufa Akter Banu, Associate Professor Mofizur Rahman, Assistant Professor Rezaul Karim, Associate Professor Mostofa Zamal Happy and Lecturer Anisul Kabir from the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department.

Among others are faculty members of the discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering -- Professor Abdul Momin, Professor Humayun Kabir, Professor Khalilur Rahman, Associate Professor Khairul Islam, Associate Professor Helal Uddin, Associate Professor Shahinuzzaman, Associate Professor Nasir Uddin Khan and Assistant Professor Abdullah Al Masud.

Those from the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering department include Professor M Moniruzzaman, Professor Ayesha Akhter Zaman, Professor Atiqur Rahman, Professor  Sharif M Al Reza, Professor Minhazul Haque, Professor Arifuzzaman Khan, Professor Shamsul Alam, Associate Professor Sadiqul Islam, Associate Professor Ahsanul Haque and Associate Professor SM Abdur Razzak.

Two teachers from the Applied Nutrition and Food Technology department nominated for the fellowship are  Professor ATM Mizanur Rahman and associate Professor Kamruzzaman.

Each nominated teacher will get Tk 2 to 3 lakh from the project, Nawab Ali said.

A total of 1,158 researchers from different universities across the country are getting fellowships in six categories -- Biology, Medicine, Interdisciplinary, Physics, Environmental Science and Engineering and Applied Sciences.
