The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Wednesday found Aedes larvae in 72 buildings after searching 13,150 houses, installations, and buildings construction sites during drives conducted to protect city residents from the mosquito-borne dengue disease, said a press release by DNCC. 

It also found suitable environments for Aedes mosquito breeding in 7,944 houses and under-construction buildings on Wednesday.

The owners of these place were fined Tk 83,000 in 15 cases during the drive on Wednesday. 

How (not) to fight mosquito

Since the drive began on August 8, the DNCC teams have searched 1,18,301 houses, establishments and building construction sites in total and found Aedes larvae at 635 places.

They also found suitable environments for Aedes mosquito breeding after inspecting 69,757 houses among the total number of places inspected during the drive that started on August 8.

So far, the DNCC has realised Tk 9 lakh 31,300 in fines during the drives.
