The power supply has been restored in Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrakona districts in Mymensingh division after it was snapped due to a fire in Kewatkhali Power Grid.

According to locals the power to Mymensingh district has been restored partially, reports BSS.

Earlier, a fire broke out at a grid substation at Mymensingh's Kewatkhali power station on Tuesday noon.

Following the incident, power supply to neighbouring Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrokona districts faced disruptions.

"The fire broke out at around 1pm today," Abul Hossain, deputy director of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Mymensingh division said.

"The fire was brought under control by 2pm. We are investigating to find out the cause of the fire," he added.

Two fire service units brought the fire under control after 1-hour effort, he added.

PGCD grid substation floorman Narul Isram said that the fire was primarily appeared to have started from a short circuit.

PDB Mymensingh Region Chief Engineer, Rafiqul Islam said, "There are three power transformers in the substation where one caught fire."

"The power grid company is investigating into the incident," he added.
