Sagar-Runi murder: DNA of 2 unidentified persons found on clothes

Two unidentified men were involved in journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi murder, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said in a progress report.

"The report was submitted today to Attorney General's office by investigation officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Mohiuddin," RAB Director (Media and Legal Wing) Sarwar Bin Kashem confirmed it to The Business Standard.

"Initially, DNA of two undefined persons were found on the clothes of Sagar and Runi. Further can be said after getting the full DNA report," the RAB director added quoting the report.

Earlier on November 14 last year, the High Court directed the investigation officer to provide an update on the progress of the double-murder case probe by March 4.

On February 11, 2012, Sagar Sarwar, the then news editor of Maasranga Television and Meherun Runi, the then senior reporter of ATN Bangla were brutally murdered in their apartment in South Rajabazar.

Eight people, including Runi's friend Tanvir Rahman are accused in the murder case.
