A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the bus driver Shahid Mia from a bus stand in Sunamganj district town early Saturday in a case filed over an attempt to rape in a moving bus.

The team arrested him from the Old Bus Station when he got down from a bus that arrived from Dhaka around 6am, said Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman.

Earlier on 27 December, Sylhet Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested the bus helper Rashid Ahmed from Chhatak's Burairgaon late at night.

On 26 December, the college student jumped off a moving bus at Sujanagar in Sunamganj's Dirai municipality area to escape rape attempt by the bus driver and helper and injured critically.

Later, the girl's father filed a case against the bus driver Shahid Mia and his assistant Rashid Ahmed under the Women and Child Abuse Act at the Dirai police station on the same night.
