A Bangladeshi national has been shot dead by unidentified robbers in the Ermelo area of Mpumalanga province in South Africa on Sunday.

The deceased Jahidul Islam Arif, hailed from Fatikchhari of Chattogram.

According to the Bangladeshi traders living in the Ermelo area, an armed gang of robbers looted Arif's shop. While they were leaving after looting valuables, Arif tried to catch one of the robbers from behind. That's when another robber shot him dead on the spot.

After being informed by the locals, the police came and recovered the body. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
