The miscreants shot the victim three times in a row to confirm the kill and later escaped

A  local Awami League activist was shot dead on Sunday night in Pabna over eastablishing supremacy.

The incident took place at around 8:15 pm in the Ataikanda area of Bharara Union of Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam, 28, son of Muntai Hossain of the same union. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Nasim Ahmed confirming the incident to The Business Standard said: "I will be able to give details when I go to the scene."

According to the locals, the murder took place at the behest of the Bharara Union Parishad chairman Abu Sayed, who's brother Rafiq headed the killing.

They said the miscreants shot the victim three times in a row to confirm the kill and later escaped.

Chairman Abu Saeed's has been unreachable on his mobile phone as it was found switched off.

Union Awami League leader Sultan Mahmud said, "Amirul has been doing politics with me for a long time, he is an innocent man, his son is now an orphan. His murder is unacceptable."
