The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized an oil tanker lorry on Saturday that was carrying nine thousand litres of smuggled furnace oil from Chattogram.

Two men, Rizwanul Islam, 35, and Md Rahman, 34, have been arrested over the incident.

Major Md Shamim, Camp Commander of RAB-7 confirmed the matter, saying that the oil was brought in without any tariff being paid on it.

"They bring it from Karnaphuli to Sitakunda to sell it," he said, adding, "Smugglers have been using this route for a long time to smuggle in goods."

Law enforcers are trying to identify and arrest the people who absconded, he added.
