Police have arrested three people for suspected involvement in looting goods from a warehouse of Abul Khair Group at Dewanhat under Double Mooring Police Station in Chattogram.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner (West) Md Abdul Warish disclosed this at a press conference Monday afternoon.

The arrested are Nur Nabi, 30, Shahjahan, 60, and Enayet Ullah Shanto, 22. Shanto is a student of Computer Science Department of Cumilla University.

The mastermind of the robbery Md Nur Nabi was arrested at Barbakund under ​​Sitakunda Police Station on Sunday night.

According to his confession, the buyers of the robbed goods, Shahjahan and his son Shanto, were arrested from Cumilla.

Mohammad Mohsin, OC of Double Mooring Police Station, told The Business Standard: "This group of inter-district robbers has robbed cigarettes of Abul Khair Group worth Tk10 crore from different warehouses in 10 districts including Chattogram, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, Kurigram, Sylhet, Savar, Dhaka and Munshiganj in the last eight years. During the robberies, they also killed two people, one in the Patenga Police Station area of ​​Chattogram and one in Cumilla.

Abul Khair Group DGM Faruq Ahmed said cigarettes worth around Tk1 crore had been looted at five places in Chandpur and Chattogram in the last three months.
