A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) seeking directives to declare the trials of rape incidents in village arbitration centre as a criminal offense.
Advocate Yadia Zaman filed the petition today (Monday) on behalf of the Rights group Ain O Salish Kendra.
The law secretary, home secretary and others parties concerned have been made respondents to the writ.
The writ also sought stringent adherence to the court's directive to the disposal of rape cases within 180 working days without interruption.
