A Satkhira court has framed charges against Regent Group chairman Shahed Karim in two cases under the Arms and Special Powers Act.

District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Mofizur Rahman passed the order on Thursday afternoon. Shahed was produced before the court.

The court fixed 23 February as the date for hearing the statement of the witnesses in the cases.

Earlier on 15 July, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Regent Hospital Chairman Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim from the border area of Satkhira on various charges of fraud during the coronavirus pandemic.

The RAB recovered a pistol, three rounds of ammunition and a magazine from his possession.

Later, RAB official Nazrul Islam filed a case with the Debhata Police Station on the same day.
