A Dhaka court on Sunday issued permission for forensic testing of two mobile phones seized from Prothom Alo Senior Reporter Rozina Islam.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Baki Billah, issued the order and directed the mobile phones be sent to the forensic laboratory for tests.
Earlier in the day, she was granted bail on a bond of Tk5,000 and was asked to submit her passport in a case filed by a Health Ministry official under the Official Secrets Act 1923.
Hours after securing bail, Rozina Islam walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail, Gazipur, at 4:15pm today and expressed her firm determination to keep working as journalist.
Investigative journalist Rozina was kept confined at the health ministry for more than six hours on 17 May on allegations of taking snapshots of some government documents. She was later was handed over to police.
Rozina Islam was shown arrested in the case on charges of spiriting away "important" documents on the same night.
Rozina Islam is known for her strong reportage of official corruption. She has recently made several investigative reports revealing corruption in the health sector.
