The results of the mayoral election in Khulna's Chalna municipality have been postponed due to the death of BNP mayoral candidate Abul Khair Khan.

The candidate died at 3:45 pm on Monday. He was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Corona Unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Further action will be taken in this regard upon receiving the decision of the Election Commission, the returning officer added.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Awami League candidate Sanat Kumar Biswas is leading with 6,072 votes and his closest competitor, independent mayoral candidate Achintya Kumar received 2,515 votes in the Chalna municipality election.
