Cartoonist, writer land in jail over facebook posts

A court here on Wednesday sent cartoonist Kabir Kishore and writer Mushtak Ahmed to jail in a case filed under the Digital Security Act over their anti-government posts on facebook.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Begum Mahmuda Begum passed the order after rejecting their bail petitions.

Investigation Officer of the case Sub-inspector Jamshedul Islam produced the accused before the court.

Members of Rapid Action Battallion (Rab) arrested the duo from their respective homes in Kakrail and Lalmatia areas on Tuesday.

A case was filed under the Digital Security Act against them and nine others with Ramna Police Station on charge of posting anti-government remarks on facebook.
