DGHS reported 28 more deaths from coronavirus and 2,772 new cases in last 24 hours

Bangladesh today confirmed 28 more deaths, which is lowest in two months, from the novel coronavirus and 2,772 new cases of infection after testing 12,614 samples in 82 labs in the last 24 hours.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 3,111 and the number of total infections stood at 2,37,661.
"Of the dead patients, 22 are men and six women. Moreover, 13 of them are hailed from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, three from Rajshahi, two each from Khulna and one each from Barisha and Rangpur division," Additional Director General (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the latest figures during the daily virtual health bulletin today.
"All of them have died in different hospitals."
According to the age group analysis of Covid-19 victims as of today, the highest number of patients - 46.19 percent or 1,437 - died till date are aged sixty and above. The age groups of 51-60 and 41-50 come next with respectively 28.83 percent (897) and 14.05 percent (437). Rest of the age groups stand under seven percent, such as- 31-40 with 6.59 percent (205), 21-30 with 2.80 percent (87), 11-20 with 0.96 percent (30) and under ten with 0.58 percent (18).
The gender-wise analysis of the victims disclosed that some 2,446 people who have died from Covid-19 are males and 665 are females, which are 78.62 percent and 21.38 percent respectively.
District-wise, out of 3,111 fatalities till date, 47.83 percent or 1,488 are hailed from Dhaka division, 24.40 or 759 percent from Chattogram, 7.10 percent or 221 from Khulna, 5.95 percent or 185 from Rajshahi, 4.85 percent or 151 from Sylhet, 3.92 percent or 122 from Barishal, 3.79 percent or 118 from Rangpur, and 2.15 percent or 67 from Mymensingh.
Dr Nasima Said, "Some 13,170 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 12,614 were tested in 82 labs across the country. So far 1,176,809 samples have been tested."
Besides, some 2,176 patients have recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 135,136.
Around 56.86 percent of novel coronavirus patients – both symptomatic and asymptomatic – have recovered in Bangladesh so far, while 1.31 percent have died.
The latest day's infection rate was 21.98 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 20.20 percent.
Currently, 56,824 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,089 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 379,662 people have completed their quarantine course.
The country is capable of accommodating 31,991 people at 629 institutional quarantine facilities across the country.
Nasima Sultana said, "The authorities placed 759 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 18,310 after 32,400 left."
As many as 18,930,639 hotline health services were given by 16,498 trained and 4,217 volunteer doctors via three designated numbers, including 70,238 in the last 24-hour till 8am today.
Via the telemedicine service, everyday a total of 100 doctors and health officils in two shifts are providing Covid-19 advice, that has been availed by 152,139 people till date including 3,832 in the last 24 hours.
The virus has killed 676,497people globally and infected 17,466,729 so far.
